Snow Day Stock
With several meetings postponed, I’m using this snow day to take stock and appreciate the fascinating opportunities and challenges that have been presented to our company by the diverse group of partners and clients who have made this a banner year. As our new logo and company name suggest, strategic leadership will propel people and organizations to take what has inspired them, set a course, and act with caring influence. Practicing this style of leadership can compete with and overcome the many challenges before us.
Leadership Development
Wanting to build on the success of our Leadership Program in the education and military sectors, we are thrilled to announce the expansion of our training product with a new client in the gaming industry. As the industry as a whole faces an increasingly competitive market, we are working with company staff on performance development and engagement, helping them promote a culture that will foster their goals and mission. Leading With Energy, a critical theme of the program and first developed for a group within the US Naval Air Command, is woven throughout the training sessions. Individuals within the organization learn how they can redefine their workplace culture through behavioral change and the ability to efficiently manage personal energy. It is an exciting piece of the evolution of leadership development.
Earlier this year we learned that the leadership program we have been running within a regional education system will be featured at a national conference in the spring of 2014. It has been an honor to work with these educators and we will continue to develop this targeted leadership program, expanding relationships between the business community and the education system.
Community Leadership
Another highlight this year includes expanding our community leadership program market in Ohio and New York. Facilitating opening and closing retreats, and special event workshops including The Healthy Leader, I have had the great pleasure to meet many people dedicated to leading their communities into the future. I look forward to speaking at future scheduled events and hearing of the plans and projects as they take shape throughout 2014.
Facilitation
It’s been an honor to work with non-profit organizations along the East Coast and in the Midwest on developing a sound and compelling strategy amidst the significant shifts in that sector. While non-profits face similar strategic challenges, and dedicated time for long-term planning is critical, I have enjoyed the challenge of facilitating sessions designed to meet specific change and transition. Whether these include program expansion, building acquisitions, needing to change their client services model or transitioning to the next generation, they have all been valuable challenges that keep me continually learning.
Coaching
When working with business owners and CEOs in a market analogist to paddling class 5 rapids, I feel as if I am in the boat with each person I coach. Business is at times harrowing, thrilling, and humbling, but ultimately one of the greatest trips to paddle alongside each client.
I wish you the best this holiday season, and look forward to a wonderful 2014.
